The 1970's found most Major League Ballparks converting to plastic seats from wood. This product is crafted from the old, wooden seats. Due to the age of the wood and uniqueness of the seats, no two products will be exactly the same. The painted surfaces may be multi-colored due to layers of paint.
Additional Product Information
Forbes Field, named after British General John Forbes who fought in the French and Indian War and who named Pittsburgh, opened in June 1909 as home to the Pittsburgh Pirates. While Forbes Field's large outfield made over-the-fence home runs difficult, in 1935 it was the site of Babe Ruth's final three home runs, the third of which was reportedly the first homer to clear the right field wall. In 1960, the Pirates won the World Series at Forbes thus defeating the Yankees. Ten years later, the ballpark was demolished and the land annexed by the University of Pittsburgh. Forbes Field's home plate is now preserved near its original location in the University's Posvar Hall. For more information, please visit Authentication.
