The Toronto St. Pats were Toronto's NHL team before they changed their name to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1926. The team was founded in 1917 as the Toronto Hockey Club. They then became the Toronto Arena in 1918 under the ownership of the Arena Company, but when the team was sold to the St. Patricks group and renamed the Toronto St. Pats.
